So interesting game today didn't quite go as i planned and hoped in a way but at last the party is in Fairhaven where the real story will kick off although there are still Finch's around.
Another thing which i need to bring up is my current feelings regarding 3.5.I like DnD always have but 2nd ed and 4th now have always held my preference over 3.5 which in my opinion is only really good between levels 6 to about 12 in any case before it becomes silly.
There are far too many broke classes, feat and obscure rules which hinder a lot of my enjoyment for the game and often makes me feel like scrapping entire campaigns.
Now the other 2 systems are far from perfect but at least i feel i can run them safe in the knowledge i havent overlooked anything.
What i guess i am saying is that I would prefer Eberron mark 2 as a 4th ed game.
There are enough 3.5 games around and would quite like Ben to run his more as it would give us more options.
I am by no means forcing the game to switch over as i have only discussed this with 2 or 3 players who wouldn't have a probelm with it but it won't happen unless the majority agree to the change.
Your character concepts will be unaffected largely just the powers u have obviously and some of the crunch but u will still be the same guys in the same game in the same world.
Guess the question is are people willing to switch the game over?If so great,if not we will stick to 3.5 and i'll happily run the game till it's conclusion.
Opinions,decisions and suggestions welcome

opinion - wouldn't mind the switch, actually starting to enjoy 4th ed.
decision - im going to start wearing underwear less
suggestion - colin should start to bring snacks for all the players to the games he runs, or is in, or isn't in........ I WANT MORE SNACKS FROM COLIN

I dont think that my character maps out well for 4e purely cos the concept of him is total non combat, yes 4e would give me combat ability but its not in my idea of the character

If you also see your role as party spokesman/buffer/healer guy who knows everything and is the most charismatic guy around this can all be done too without even making u remotely good in combat(ask Iain).Bards can multiclass out the wazoo too meaning you are unrestricted in taking the powers/abilites u may want from other classes. You should have a look is all i'm saying but of course I'll respect your final decision.

I've not got enough experience with either system... Though my small amount of experience with 3.5 has been far better than 4th ed.
I abstain.

So everyone has been asked their opinion and i have had responses from all bar one person who i don't know which way he will go.
5 of those that have played Eberron have no problems switching over and a couple are actually in preference.
Mr Forshaw from his abstention doesn't seem to mind either way.
Ray and Chris are not in favour of the change.
So here is how it will go.The next 3 games will run as 4th ed and will be run with those who wanted the change as there is no point trying to change the minds of those who don't like 4th ed, it just leads to fruitless arguments.
If the group likes the changes it will stay permanently,if not we will switch back to 3.5 and those who didn't want to switch over can if they want come back into the game on the same level as the party who won't have advanced that much.
That's my decision.

So you've pretty much given up on running 3.5 games then Colin?

So you've pretty much given up on running 3.5 games then Colin? Pretty much for the time being yeah.Had all my enthusiasm for it sapped recently for a number of different reasons and people. It runs a lot smoother at the moment in any case.

I respect your decision but I do think it's a shame. 3.5 has always been a good system IMO and I make no secret that I vastly prefer it to 4th Ed. I really am hoping to be turned around on my views of 4th Ed but I just don't see it happening. Hope the game pans out for you guys, just glad it didn't change on my watch To be fair, I would have bitched about it being a bad move with all the sourcebook availability for 3.5 in my (Edit: old) flat. But since Rory did a disappearing act with half of them (some of which actually belongs to me) I guess I can understand. (Regarding the above 'edit', old habits die hard.)

Slowly but surely they are getting the hang of it.We know who the biggest detractors are on both sides but at the end of the day the players are having a good time and that's all that matters. The fact that most people agreed to the change is encouraging and a couple of naysayers don't matter. I have a cool group,a cool setting and most importantly it still feels like Eberron.

i don't think it feels like eberron at all.
there's no twat shouting the one command he knows (CHARGE) at the two remaining members of the team after the entire rest of the party have been slaughtered (or blown up) by a fiery demon.
My god that guy was an idiot ! ! !
