I have not implemented a swear filter - you should all know better than not to swear on a public site where you're representing a society for a university ;D
I don't see someone being baned for swearing, but if I receive complaints from ANYONE over language used or disrespect then action will have to be taken.
If anyone has any input then feel free to say =]

I saw a swear in a post but it was not used offensivly and I can't remeber where it is. To be honest I don't really care about it that much I am just reporting it so it can be removed so that it dose not offend anyonelse

Yeah it's all fine so long as it's not intended hurt someone, or the poster is acting like Father Jack

It also depends on your definition of swearing - for e.g. some forums consider using the phrase "good god" or "my god" as swearing but others not so much. Most of the forums I frequent allow you to use normal language and frown upon swearing but do not enforce a filter, and will usually send a warning first.
We need to come together and agree on a policy.

I am very much pro-swearing. ;D
That is to say, I don't think people should be prevented from using their whole vocabulary to express themselves. If it's used in a manner to directly offend someone then obviously that's inappropriate, but that's inappropriate because it's actual abuse.

As Ben has pointed out. Swearing isn't the problem. But the use of swearing to attack another member is. In these cases it requires experienced Moderation to make the call between insults & just a form of expressing ones opinion.

Tbh I'm pretty pro-swearing as well. Not for the sake of it obviously, but to be fair everyone who should be using this forum should be mature enough to realise that swearing happens. As long as the language is used to directly assault someone it shouldn't be an issue. I occasionally drop the odd curse word into a sentence and I don't think I or anyone else should have to moderate what we say to such a degree.

Was it a Christian forum, cos that would suck.
i don’t really thinks it matter of what our opinion are, seen as how we mostly know each, but the fact that this is an open forum, and it is also used to represent the uni, we should prob have some system in place, that being a filter or at least a policy
