Well I ran the first game of Rogue Trader on Tuesday and it went exceptionally smooth. It had a slow start, pulling everyone together, but in the end it happened and conveniently no one died (which is always a plus!).
Cauis Aelius Tacitus( aka. Gordon ) Captain of the light cruiser Bloodhound was sent to a planet in the Foundling World sub-sector after reports of an attack by Ork Freebooters arrived at Footfall. Captain Aelius was sent to quash the threat with a small fleet in hand. However due to turbulent warp travelling, they arrived many months to late.
A message was received by the Astropath requesting they comeback to Footfall. After decimating most of the Ork resistance, they tactically retreated and lay in a course for Footfall.
On arrival, Captain Aelius was greeted by Admiral Tasteron, who informed him of his new position as Rogue Trader on the Imperator Aquila. The Admiral also informed Rogue Trader Aelius that he set up a little informal party, so he can meet a mixture of Traders around Footfall and his accompanying crew.
On the other side of Footfall Rico Beystra (aka. Burky, aka. Burkules ) was walking back to his Mother and Fathers Inn, when three acquittance's showed up in the dark alley, with the alleys's light flickering above him, he is informed that he has a job to do that will pay off some of his debt with 'the boss'. He agrees (grudgingly) to infiltrate a ship and become the Senachal of a new Rogue Trader...
Regias his just arrived on Footfall after doing fine work on another planet in the Calixus sector. Requiring to disappear for a while, he picks up a well paying job in the Koronus Expanse. The details are sketchy, though his job is to scope out the kill point and wait for the opportune moment to strike.
Scoping out the building and finding an appropriate nesting ground, he finds a convenient hab-unit that over watches the hotel. Preparing his revisions (an empty glass bottle) he sits and waits.
Rico boards the Rogue Traders ship after a small altercation with the transcoding device the Navy watchman was using for accepting on-coming crew. There was no officer called Rico Beystra, but there was a Senachal with the name Rico Alderas that had the same ID that was provided by Beystra. After scanning his Beystra's hand, the data-slate provided the correct person... He must have read the names wrongly...
Rico is escorted onto the ship and directed to the bridge by a Cadet. He begins to search the cogitators data banks for any relevant information to him, along with the assistance of a Tech Priest.
Rogue Trader Aelius steps onto the bridge and Rico introduces himself. After a light refreshment of small talk they decide to go for a drink in one of the mess halls. However none are operational at this moment in time. Aelius invites Rico to the party, both go to their quarters to prepare for the night.
Arriving at the party fashionably late, Aelius is announced to the audience that subsequently clap in his wake. The party goes smoothly with Aelius talking to the small Free Traders, picking up hints and tips on running a successful business. Rico, goes directly for the big pompous-git of a fish, and quickly regrets his efforts... Though does find out valuable information relating to Burnscour planet, and how to replenish your crew from Feral planets... Most eye opening...
Reaching the halfway mark of the party, a servant offers refreshments to Aelius, he notices a glimpse of metal behind the servants right sleeve, and the suggestion of a concealed weapon...
At that moment the far left windows shatters and the servant is clipped at the back of the head. Regias loads preparing for another shot. The assassin is struck in the chest before he is able to complete his task. Rico gasps, placing the refreshing food in his mouth. Aelius pulls back the sleeve to reveal a Beleasco weapon, that would have surely killed him outright.
Regias puts his weapons away into the two black carry bags. As he opens the door to leave, five armed Navy officers greet him... His thoughts... 'Damn, Navy Psykers'.
I'll continue writing this later.
