So we're about to start the new academic year, which means I'm going to drop a new update on you.
I've just finished a meeting with Arnaud, the Sports and Societies President and Andrew Taylor, who has now taken the position of the Societies Officer. While Arnaud will still have overall say on what goes on in societies, I will be in more direct contact with Andrew as he has had responsibility for societies activities devolved to him.
We discussed the budget and its current iteration has been attached to this thread. I know you'll have noticed that the nationals budget has not been added to the current budget. The reason for that is not because Arnaud and Andrew refused to discuss it, but because they still do not wish to subsidise non-students trips to the nationals and will discuss how much the union will cover after they see our student intake after the Freshers Fair.
I have also discussed the monthly tournament briefly with them and they fully support it, so I'll chat with Paul about it and get it moving.
The Fresher Fair is also fast approaching as well as a Sports and Societies night on the 28th of September, so I'm looking for people to volunteer to help at those events.
I also recommend people who want to go to the Nationals contact me and let me know so I have a rough idea of how many people want to go. This year, you will be organising your own transport and accommodation, but I'll try and find some hotels and post them on the forum.
At the moment, that's all I can think of. As always, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to leave a post.
Thanks,
Steven.
