On the 3rd of December (technically today) I will be playing a game of Warhammer with the legendary WEG. He'll be using the 2010 Nats rules to try out his list for the competition. I intend to match him and also follow those rules so that he can practice a game with the conditions he'll face at the Nats.
For those who don't know... the rule is 1999 points, meaning no lords, fewer specials, and fewer rares.
Of course this means a vampire army is out of the question so I think I'll use Empire.

By the end I was thoroughly destroyed... twice. There's very little any army can do against 11 power dice and a bound spell hammering you every turn whilst flamers of Tzeentch pick off anyone still standing. Compounding my already huge disadvantage I had the most tremendously bad luck with almost all my dice rolls. In two games I managed to roll a grand total of 10 double 1s... and none of them for leadership tests.
Taking the time to properly consider it I believe the best army list to stop this Daemon army would be another Daemon army. I have a funny feeling that the Nats tournament may be populated by Chaos armies and people losing to chaos armies. Oh well.

daemons, mortals, skaven.
orges as well to an extend, ogre bruisers are still more nasty than most other heroes.
tomb kings, vamps, lizardman i think are the most skunnered by it.

How did the Steamtank do in the end then? Did it sputter along game 2 like it did in game 1? And by sputter, i mean do almost nothing.

in game 2 i actually did a few wounds to it but it still did more damage in game one with its mighty killing of a plaguebearer., but there was a lot bad dice rolls for the empire plus my flamers only shot less than 20 once in 2 games,. ogres could be intresting at nats but i agree top lvls will be daemons and lizzies not 100% sure on skaven yet. so im i the hobbits only chance at a fantasy win or is anyone else playing WHFB?
