ok so i have finally got round to doing some fluff for my chapter. I have also came up with a way to inject a bit more colour into the army but i realized i need new brushes. However I digress, yes let the fluff commence.
The Harbingers of Death were established during the second founding and were one of the successor chapters of the Ultramarines. Their first chapter master was a marine named Romulus Maldonado, he reputed to be a giant of a man even for a space marine. They were given the feral planet Ancalagon located in the Chitra System, Scarus Sector, Helican Subsector Segmentum Obscurus, from which to draw recruits. The majority of the chapter was assumed lost after they failed to emerge from the warp. Weeks after this tragedy their chapter planet fell to a massive Chaos attack with the majority of the chapter lost and with only around 3 companies strength left, they quickly fell to the overwhelming attack by the arch enemy despite the orbital fortresses and massive defence lasers. Although some did manage to flee in the strike cruiser Inexorable, taking as much in the way of arms and other equipment particularly as many of their dreadnoughts land raiders and suits of terminator armour as they could. Less than 50 marines were able to escape this was deemed to be of insufficient strength for the Administratum to continue supplying them

The majority of the chapter disappeared in early M34 when mobilized to repel the Chaos incursion of the 4th Black Crusade only in 001 M35 were the missing companies declared lost. The remaining chapter strength is declared to have enough fighting strength left to remain recruiting. Although with the loss of the majority of their armour, weapon, vehicles and most of the chapter dreadnoughts not to mention fleet, it would take untold centuries before the chapter would fight at full strength again. However this was not to be as only 200 years after the missing companies are declared lost their chapter planet fell to a massive Chaos attack. However Chapter Master Gwrtheyrn recognised that with only 5 companies of marines, even with the orbital fortresses and massive defence lasers given the scale of the attack that all was lost unless a call for help was sent out this was done and the Harbingers to their credit they held out for over 4 months against the forces of the World Eaters. However when relief forces in the form of a Imperial Fists strike force did there was little that could be done to save the planet other than give the enemy nothing to take, a bombardment of cyclonic torpedoes was initiated against the more intact orbitals and on the enemy positions. Some 50 marines were rescued from the ruins of Ancalagon although they wished to carry on the chapter the Council of Terra deemed that 50 battle brothers were not enough for such a task. So the decision was made for them to be permanently seconded to the Death Watch. Upon learning of this decision the Imperial Fists Captain Friedhelm who had lead the expedition that rescued the Harbingers gave sergeant Jarl, the highest ranked and de facto leader of the Harbingers given that no officers survived and he is one of the few remaining brothers that wore terminator armour, a thunder hammer and storm shield as a gift since Friedhelm had witnessed the loss of the sergeants own armaments and wished to see him continue execute the Emperors will. Over the course of the centuries the remaining members of the Harbingers continued in the Death Watch slowly but surely being killed off, some brothers were interred into the sarcophogus it was thought by some that the legacy of the Harbingers of Death would end with these last few members in the Death Watch. It was during the 5th Black Crusade in 724 M36 that last remaining members of the Harbingers chapter were fighting a losing battle and the Imperials were in desperate need of reinforcements but the Imperium's fleet was beleaguered by a sudden enemy attack. It was only with the emergence of the lost 7 companies of the Harbingers of Death from the warp that prevented the day from becoming a complete defeat with their intervention they quickly routed the enemy fleet and crushed the enemy fleets. Upon emerging from the warp they were expecting to emerge to a mustering point but emerged to find upon seeing chaos forces they immediately set upon them not yet knowing that they had been in the warp for over two millennia then as the battle wore on they detected enemy forces on the planet and from vox intercepts the knew that the imperial forces were being outflanked if that happened then they would be overwhelmed, and destroyed so lots were drawn for 4 companies to be deployed with the other 3 being used as a tactical reserve, 5 squadrons landspeeders were also deployed to act as fast reactionary mobile fire support as tank would take to long to deploy.
