There seems to be some confusion on how Rogue Trader deals with Skills. Basically to explain this. They're 4 Tick Boxes + One other Box: Basic, Trained, +10%, +20%, Bonus. Basic: If ticked the skill can be used at half the characteristic score. Trained: If ticked the skill can be used at full characteristic score. +10%: Adds a +10 to the characteristic +20%: Adds a +20 to the characteristic Bonus: If you have any additional Talents that apply modifiers to the Skill. The sheet doesn't tell you which ones are Basic. Presumably due to laziness on the Developers part. The Basic Skills are: Awareness, Barter, Carouse, Charm, Climb, Command, Concealment, Contortionist, Deceive, Disguise, Dodge, Evaluate, Gamble, Inquiry, Intimidate, Logic, Scrutiny, Search, Silent Move, & Swim. Some paths in the Origin Section give you Advanced Skills as Basic Skills. For instance if you are Void Born you gain Navigation(stellar)(Int) as a Basic untrained skill. Though others that are not Void Born would consider them Advance Skills and couldn't use it until trained appropriately. I've went over all the characters to make sure everyone is getting the correct skills at the right level. As everyone has written down their origin path(Except Chris as he didn't write his origin path), this has made it extremely easy. I've also ticked the Skills that everyone gets at Basic(Except Chris due to no Origin Path). So everyone(except Chris) have completely legit, working characters.

I knew there had to be a set of basic skills that everyone knew. I reckon you should get better character sheets so that confusion doesn't happen in the future.

I entirely agree Ben. Did a little search and I've found this: cbpye.net/wp/2009/10/23/new-rogue-trader-character-sheets/Compared to the official FFG Character Sheets it isn't really fancy. Though it does do a good job of laying out everything and gives a very useful Action table to all the players. I might use these instead of the original ones.

For all those playing... The first game will be tomorrow( 6th Nov ) in E-block at 18:00. On a side note I found some details about how many hands a certain weapon requires. This is determined by the Weapons Class. Classes are: Melee : No reference to the required hands needed. Thrown : No reference to the required hands needed. Using a Thrown weapon in close-combat is considered an improvised weapon. Pistol : Requires 1 hand to fire. Can be fired in close-combat but don't gain any bonuses or penalties. Basic : Requires 2 hands to carry, though can be used in one hand at a -20% penalty to BS. Heavy : Heavy weapons require 2 hands & some form of brace(Window ledge, etc) else a -30% penalty So you can mount a Hellgun(Basic) to a Forearm Weapon Mounting though at a -20% to shoot.

-20%? That's fine by me. I've got the +10% to hit with it thing and a good ballistic skill. Plus if the rogue trader is about giving me another 10% and I aim... well needless to say, I don't see that being a problem. The most important thing is that nobody will see it coming. ;D

So the first game of Rogue Trader was finally played last night. The mockly crew ranged far and wide...
Stark - Colin: Very much like his Fantasy counter part. Will run away from any fight that isn't going well... Leaving those unable to run for dead.
Jon Hellslayer - Ben: Presumably Starks right(or left) hand man. Stays closely by the captains side no matter what. He has no regarde for killing anyone who stands in his way, be it directly or in directly.
Senchal - Steven : Beuracrat ninja. Up to this point, has done everything the captain has requested. Even acquiring 5 Ograins... Is there anything this Ninja can't do?
Missionary : Matthew : Was told to escort a large quantity of unknown cargo to FootFall... He disappeared soon after... The crew of Stark Entiprises have taken a dislike to him... His preachings & general annoyance has particularly annoyed an archmilitant... Especially because the missionary has an Infernol Pistol and he doesn't.
Void Master - Ginger Chris : Not much is known of this character... I doubt much will ever be known...
Explorator - Sebastion : A quiet person who gets the job done. Has already been a valuable resource to Stark Enterprises. One wonders if the captain has realised...
Navigator - Chris : the navigator didn't do much in this game mainly staying on board the space ship screwing up on warp traveling.
When I get some time( and a proper keyboard ) I'll write up what has happened so far in the adventure.

With ensign Ricky, the murder servitors and the Ogryns i think Stark Enterprises are on the up.Not to mention the unquestioning loyalty of the men.It was a shame ginger Chris gun overheated and that Matt gave his life willing in the name of freedom. The Emperor salutes you and we mourn your tragic loss...

Jorn Hellslayer does have an inferno pistol. Always has had one in fact. Yep. All true.
Oh and he loved the preacher. Yes, he would have gladly saved him were he not insistant that he covered our retreat.
Additionally you should probably mention that he's the reincarnation of all the dead Primarchs... ;D

The Stark Dynasty is young( considering the length of most Dynasties in the 41st millennium ). Though it may be young, it already has powerful allies & powerful enemies... Wolfram Stark is a very unique character, being given a Warrant Of Trade rather than inheriting his old man's. If you knew the man for more than an hour, you'll probably know why...
Following the agreement of his Warrant Wolfram is traveling to the Koronus Sector to drop off a large amount of Cargo. Escorting this Cargo was a Missionary, to make sure the Cargo reached its final destination Footfall.
As with all Traders going through the Koronus Expanse, he docked at Port Wander. Lady Sandra Oathswold had requested to meet him to discus a matter of great importance to her...
Wolfram meets Lady Sandra in the upper Noble areas of Port Wander... Sitting down to talk to her with Jorn Hellslayer over his shoulder, the rest of the crew that accompanied him, stood dumbstruck a few metres away. She greeted Stark and asked him to follow her , and the rest of his pitiful crew... Jorn's eyes narrowed...
They finally get to her mansion where Stark is shown into a large room, while the crew are left in the Hall. She requests Wolfgan Stark assistance in finding her husband( Lord Victor Oathswold ) who has been in search of a hidden civilisation of untold wealth. His last known location was around the Gallant World before the transmission was abruptly cut short. Since then no word has come from him. All she cares is that you find him. Handing you a map to the System, she bids you good day and sees you out of her mansion.
I'll write more later...
